VEHARI: A man allegedly raped and strangled a seven-year-old girl at Mauza Kot Saadat about 30 kilometres from here on Thursday.

‘R’, a student of Class I, would go to the neighbouring house of her relatives for tuition. On Thursday, a man took her to fields and strangled her after rape. Some people informed police about the dead body and they took it to hospital.

Luddan police SHO Rana Khalid said initial autopsy report confirmed that the girl had been strangled after rape. He said police registered a case against unknown suspect(s) under sections 302 and 376-1 of the PPC. He said samples had been sent to laboratory for chemical examination. The dead body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
