‘Security being beefed up at UET’s Jalozai campus’

PESHAWAR: Prof Iftikhar Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, has said that the varsity is taking all-out measures to provide best possible security to the students and staff at its Jalozai campus.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said the Jalozai campus would be reopened after the summer vacations, rejecting as baseless a news report appeared in a section of press regarding lengthy closure of the campus.

Dr Hussain said the university had requested both the HEC and the provincial government to help it fulfill its security needs for Jalozai campus. He said the varsity on its own had already taken a number of steps to beef up security at the campus, which included hiring of private guards and measures to protect the boundary wall.

He said to ensure continuity of education of students of Jalozai campus, arrangements had been made for their education and boarding at the main campus before start of summer vacations.

However, he said the students would go back to Jalozai campus after summer vacations as university was doing its best to ensure their security.

The Jalozai campus was closed in compliance of the orders of the government and security agencies in order to further improve the security measures at the campus, he said.
