Grenade attack injures three in Mohmand

GHALANAI: A woman and her three daughters were injured when unidentified persons hurled two hand grenades at a house in Mohmand Agency on the night between Sunday and Monday, officials said.

Local people said unidentified persons lobbed two hand grenades at a house of one Yousaf Khan in Dowa Jangi area of Safi tehsil at around 12.30am, injuring wife of Yousaf and his three daughters, Raziqa, Maryam and Sadiqa.

They said the attackers were seen fleeing the area after the attack.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. After the incident, security forces conducted search operation in the area, but no arrest was made.

A local resident said announcements were made from mosques that there would be night curfew in the entire Safi tehsil.

It merits a mention here that motorcycle riding has been banned and there has been curfew from 10pm to 5am in the agency since last one month.

Meanwhile, residents of Qandahri blocked main Peshawar-Bajaur road in Khah Bazaar for an hour against prolonged loadshedding.

They chanted slogans against Tesco and political administration for carrying out unscheduled loadshedding.

The protesters warned that if the loadshedding was not ended within three days then they would spread their protest across the agency.
