BZU sub-campus shut due to ‘security threat’

SAHIWAL: The Bahauddin Zikariya University’s local sub-campus has been closed for an indefinite period because of ‘security threat’.

The university administration has reportedly got vacated all hostels and academic blocks. All scheduled examinations have also been postponed.

Talking to media persons, campus director Dr Moueed denied such rumours and claimed that the campus was shut because of summer vacation.

Interestingly, a notification displayed at the main gate reads that the campus has been closed on the direction of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Tahir Amin.

It further says that students and parents are informed that the university will remain closed till further order.

STRANGLED: A woman was allegedly strangled by her husband and mother-in-law here on Saturday night at 115/CR, Kasowal.

Two years back, 26-year-old Rida of Village 755/GB contracted second marriage with Sajjad after divorce from Azhar. She, a mother of one, had sour relations with her mother-in-law Sakeena Bibi.

On Saturday night, Sajjad and Sakeena allegedly strangled Rida to death. The suspects managed their escape.

Kasowal police have registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of Rida’s mother Shahnaz Bibi.

Investigating Officer ASI Muhammad Amin said autopsy report showed the woman was strangled. He said police were conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
