Seven SC benches to take up different cases this week

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has formed seven benches of the Supreme Court to take up different cases in the week starting from Monday.

The bench one, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Faisal Arab, would hear cases including election matters of Sardar Shuja Muhammad Khan Baloch vs Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Muhammad Yaqub Nadeem Sethi vs Muhammad Ilyas Khan, service laws matters of KP education department, contempt of court proceedings against chairman of the EOBI and secretary of M/o L&M, a suo motu action against bogus and illegal refunds by officers of the FBR, constitutional petitions under Article 184 regarding 273 illegal appointments, promotions and adjustments without any advertisements/interview on the basis of bogus service structure in the health department, election matters of Usman Dar vs Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad Warraich vs Nasir Cheema and Zahid Malik’s petition about holding of local bodies election in Islamabad.

The bench two, headed by Justice Mian Saqib NIsar and comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, would hear election matters of Nawab Ali Wassan vs Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Ameer Khan vs Taj Muhammad Khan, educational institutions cases, a suo motu action against grant of illegal CNG stations licences during tenure of two former prime ministers and constitutional petitions under Article 184 against a decision of the Selection Committee, Peshawar High Court for the post of additional district and sessions judge.

The bench three would be headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and would comprise Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Tariq Pervez, while the bench four comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Qazi Faez Isa would hear cases including complaint by Muzaffar Hussain Khan and Mansoor Ahmed Shah, advocates, regarding mismanagement of federal property in Muzaffargarh.

The bench five comprises Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman and bench six comprised Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan.

The bench seven comprises Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik. According to cause lists, no adjournment on any ground will be granted and no application for adjournment through fax will be accepted by the court. If the counsel is unable to appear for any reason, the advocate-on-record will be required to argue the case.
