Three POs killed in Mardan ‘encounter’

MARDAN: Three proclaimed offenders were killed during an alleged encounter with police here on Saturday.

Police officials told media persons here that Mardan and Charsadda police, following a tip-off regarding presence of four proclaimed offenders in Qaseem locality of Saroshah village, raided a house.

They said the proclaimed offenders hailing from Dosihra area of Charsadda, started firing when the police reached the area. The policemen returned the fire, killing three POs on the spot, and arresting the fourth. The officials identified the killed outlaws as Ishfaq, Shahid, Majid, and the arrested one as Amjid.

The outlaws, the officials said, were real brothers, adding two Kalashnikovs, four hand grenades and three pistols were also recovered from the house.

The officials said the POs were wanted to different police stations of Mardan and Charsadda in cases of murders, robberies, heroin smuggling and abductions.
