10 killed in Karachi-bound coach accident

DADU: At least 10 people were killed and 35 others injured when a fast-moving Karachi-bound passenger coach coming from Qamar Shahdadkot overturned near Aamri Town on the Jamshoro-Sehwan Indus Highway on Tuesday morning, police and hospital officials said.

The dead and the injured were taken to the Sann and Hyderabad hospitals, they added.

The deceased were identified as Husna Bibi, Haji Sher Khan, Jameel Ahmed Bhatti, Kainat, Naimat, Shokat Jamali, Ajeena, Shahzad, Marvi and Shakir.

The condition of 13 of the 35 injured passengers was stated to be serious.

Seventeen passengers with minor injuries were discharged after first aid from the Sann hospital, the officials said.

Nazia Bhatti, Zubeda Bhatti, Aarfana Mangi, Mohammed Ayoub Magsi, Ghulam Fareed Magsi, Javed Baloch, Sajid Ahmed, Saeed Ahmed Bhatti, Sumair Ahmed Solangi, Tayaman, Aisha Solangi, eight-year-old Ashique Solangi and Sajid Solangi were stated to be in serious condition.

Jamshoro SSP Tariq Walyat said that the coach was travelling at a fast speed and the driver lost its control and it overturned. The driver is missing after the incident.

He said the bodies of the deceased were sent to their native towns by Edhi ambulances.
