Kyrgyzstan soccer team due on 27th

KARACHI, Nov 20: A strong 25-member Kyrgyzstan football squad is due to arrive on Nov 27 to play their World Cup 2006 qualifying match against Pakistan to be played at Peoples Sports Complex Ground on Nov 29.

A spokesman of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) confirmed on Thursday that there was still some confusion about staging Kyrgyzstan’s away match also in Karachi on Dec 2.

Earlier PFF announced in a news release that both the home and away matches will be played in Karachi due to severe cold conditions in Kyrgyzstan.

But according to latest development, PFF was awaiting a reply from Kyrgyzstan football authorities about playing their away match in Karachi or in their own country.

PFF President and Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat is being informed and updated about the arrangements being for staging the match in befitting manner.

A 20-member Pakistan squad for the match will be announced in the next few days. Pakistan probables are attending a training camp at Pakistan Steel Township.

Four referees from Bangladesh will supervise the match. According to reports each referee will be paid US$ 500 by PFF as daily allowance during their stay in Pakistan while Match commissioner and referee’s inspector will get USD 600 per day as daily allowance.

Renovation work at the venue which is being carried out by City District Government Karachi (CDGK) in collaboration with Pakistan Steel will be completed by Nov 23.—APP
