PU student moves court against expulsion

LAHORE: A Punjab University student expelled for sending ‘indecent’ mobile messages to a girl student has approached the Lahore High Court against his punishment despite the fact that the complainant has forgiven him.

Zarq Tanvir, a student of PU’s physical education department, stated in his petition that disciplinary committee of the university expelled him on the complaint of a fellow student who accused him of sending indecent messages to her.

The petitioner claimed that the complainant and her family had pardoned him but the university’s administration was not ending his punishment. He requested the court to order the university to end his punishment.

Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza heard the petition on Thursday and reserved judgment.
