CTD arrests three ‘IS’ members

LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police on Monday claimed to have arrested three suspected terrorists belonging to a banned militant organisation.

According to a CTD spokesman, on receiving information a team raided a park on Canal Bank road opposite irrigation workshop in Mughalpura and arrested three suspected terrorists. The suspects were identified as Muzzafar Ali Khan, Asad Aftab and Malik Khizar Hayat.

He said the suspects belonged to Sautul Ummah that is said to have pledged allegiance to the militant Islamic State group, and were planning to attack important personalities from different institutions in Lahore. The CTD team also recovered 1,150g of explosive material, a six-foot primacord and three electric circuits.

The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
