Briefing on UAF sub-campus

TOBA TEK SINGH: The sub-campus of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad will emerge as an independent varsity and bring the sweet fruits of prosperity and development in the region.

UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said this while giving a briefing on academic, research and infrastructure development of the sub-campus here on Monday.

MNA Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, MPAs Mian Muhammad Rafique and Chaudhry Amjad Ali and DCO Amir Ijaz Akbar were also present.

The VC said that in advanced countries, universities and sub-campuses worked as satellites of development and became industrial hubs generating economic activities in the region.

Dr Khan vowed to make the sub-campus a catalyst of change urging the political and administrative leadership of the district to pave the way for construction of Khekha Bangla Road and also to get near the varsity an under-construction Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar motorway interchange on Rajana Road.

He said the university had brought technical and practical knowledge on the doorstep of the locals to enhance profit in poultry, citrus, horticultural and cotton crops.

He urged the local leadership to assist the university in transferring an adjacent state land to the varsity.

MNA Junaid Anwaar Chaudhry said he would extend full support to the university in making the campus more vibrant and a hub of academic, research and commercial activities in the district.

The DCO assured the VC that he would do everything for the uplift of the sub-campus and to meet its needs.

He also pledged to transfer the adjacent state land to the university.

Sub-campus principal Prof Dr Pervaiz Akhtar briefed about the academic and research activities of the sub-campus.

Assistant professor Dr Shahidur Rehman informed the poultry farmers about the newly-developed communication computer programmes for their facilitation.
