KP’s proposals for national flood plan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has handed over its recommendations to the federal government for inclusion in the proposed 10-years national flood protection plan.

The recommendations were handed over by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak during a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday. Chief minister Balochistan, federal secretaries for water and power and climate change and high ups of all the four provinces were present on the occasion, according to a statement.

The proposed plan is being prepared by the ministry of water and power in consultation with the ministry of climate change and the provincial governments.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the statement said, had already prepared and compiled its detailed recommendations in consultations with officials of various relevant departments and stakeholders. The chief minister also briefed the participants about the salient features of the recommendations and the threats posed by climate change to his province.
