PCS officers to go on token strike from today

PESHAWAR: Provincial Civil Service (PCS) Officers’ Association will start a token strike from today (Tuesday) to protest discrimination in postings and promotions.

The decision was made after a meeting of the association at the Civil Secretariat on Monday.

A statement issued after the meeting said that after detailed deliberations, the participants announced to observe a symbolic strike whereby all the 700 PCS/PMS officers posted throughout KP and Fata would wear black-bands and observe partial pen-down from 10am to 12pm.

The meeting called for resolution of the PMS vs PAS case that is pending at the standing committee on law reforms in the provincial assembly. The participants also demanded immediate end to all the administrative discrimination in postings, promotions and trainings and biased inquiries.

The PCS officers said that the symbolic strike would be observed till Monday, and if the demands were not met by then, they would start a complete pen-down strike and sit-ins.
