Three die in road accident

MUZAFFARABAD: Three residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) died and as many injured when the car they were travelling in plunged into a ravine in Poonch district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday, police said.

The victims, who had been in Poonch to attend a wedding ceremony, were returning to their native Amandi village in district Bannu when they met the accident near the famous Toli Peer tourist resort, on the outskirts of Rawalakot, at about 12 noon, police official Inayat Hussain told Dawn.

“The vehicle fell more than 200 feet down the road, leaving three travellers dead on the spot and injuring another three, including a young boy,” he said, adding, the cause of accident was yet to be ascertained. The deceased were identified as Shams Ali, 50, Pervez Akhtar, 55 and Aswafullah (driver), 46.

Ali Mohammad, 40, Gohar Ali, 22, son of Shams and Haris Ali, 12, son of Pervez, were admitted to Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan Hospital, Rawalakot, but their condition was out of danger, the official said.
