Three alleged terrorists arrested

PESHAWAR: The capital city police on Saturday arrested three alleged terrorists and recovered explosives and hand grenades from their possession.

SP rural circle Shakirullah Bangash told reporters that the accused were arrested on a tip-off that members of a banned outfit would try to move to Nowshera district from the provincial capital.

He said acting on the tip-off, police set up barricades on entry and exit points of the city. The police officer said a suspected intercooler jeep was stopped on the GT Road near Tarnab Farm, adding three suspects identified as Bashir Ahmed of Baghdada Mardan, and Shoaib and Ali Rehman of Bajaur who are currently living in Mardan, were arrested.

Police during search of the vehicle also recovered five kilogrammes of explosives, two hand grenades, two safety fuses, a letter-pad and a book to collect donations.

Police registered a case and started investigations.
