PFA targets water, beverage plants

LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams continued sealing on Monday bottled water plants, beverage factories and eateries for hygiene issues.

According to a spokesperson, a special PFA team sealed Mustafa Drinking Water Plant in Manawan after its lab tests of the samples were not up to mark.

Another team in Taxali Gate sealed New Jahangir Soda Water Factory and seized stock of about 2,400 bottles.

Moreover, the officials in Data Ganj Bakhsh and Nishtar towns imposed a fine on Fazal Sweets on Jail Road and Apna Hotel in the area of Chungi Amar Sadhu and issued improvement notices to them.

Also, price control magistrates on Monday got 73 shopkeepers arrested and imposed a Rs16,500 fine on others for overcharging, hoarding and selling substandard commodities in the open markets of the city.

DISMISSAL: The Lahore Development Authority director general sacked on Monday deputy director Kashif Awan for being absent from duty for a long time without prior permission of the authorities.
