Girl fractures leg after ‘falling from roof of school’

TOBA TEK SINGH: A girl fractured one of her legs when she was pushed over from the roof of her school allegedly by a teacher over failing to do her homework, her parents claimed.

The parents of Sehar Fatima, an eighth class student at a private girls school in Sindhillianwali Town, claimed their daughter was beaten by her teacher, Ruqaiya, on Saturday over failing to do her homework and they complained to the headmistress, who reprimanded the teacher.

When Sehar went to school on Monday, Ruqaiya took her to the roof of the school, beat her up and pushed her over the top. Sehar, resultantly, fractured one of her legs.

Arrouti police Muharrar Irfan Ahmad claimed the parents had so far not produced a medico-legal certificate issued by Toba DHQ Hospital where Sehar was under treatment.

He said the teacher had told police that no such incident took place. She further told them Sehar might have jumped off the roof herself fearing she would be asked about a lesson taught to her earlier.

RAPE: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a vagabond in Chak 301-JB in Gojra on Monday.

Police claimed the girl was at home while her parents had gone to the fields. This was when the suspect barged into the house and raped her at gunpoint, they added.

Gojra Saddar police registered a case and were conducting raids to arrest the suspect.
