MULTAN: The 52nd National Table Tennis Championship being organised by the Pakistan Table Tennis Association (PTTA) will start on Monday (today) at the Gymnasium Hall.

Multan Table Tennis Association president Khawaja Hassan Wadood announced this while speaking to reporters here at the District Sports Ground Gymnasium.

The championship was named as ‘Sports For Peace’ to promote peace in the country, he maintained.

He said that more than 150 players, including a dozen national team players, were participating in the event from across the country.

Players hailing from four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan Army, Wapda, Islamabad, HEC, NHA, Pakistan Railways, OGDCL, Croma Textile and banks will participate in the event.

Khawaja said that the National Table Tennis Championship was being held after 21 years in the city, adding that the Multan Table Tennis Association was bearing all expenditures.

The inauguration ceremony will be held at 6:00 pm today with DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal to be the chief guest.

PTTA vice-president, Table Tennis Association Punjab president and its secretary Khalid Mahmood among others were present.
