124 woman schoolteachers appointed in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The education department has appointed 124 woman teachers to different schools in the district.

“We have appointed 124 teachers on merit. The appointments were made to the positions lying vacant for long to the misery of students,” district education officer (female) Faiza Shafee told reporters here on Thursday.

The DEO said among the appointees were 10 classified teachers, 96 primer teachers, three Arabic teachers, two theology teachers, six Qaria teachers, four drawing masters and three physical training teachers.

She said the newly-appointed teachers had begun joining duty and that the entire recruitment process would be completed within a week.

“Following the induction of 124 teachers in female education department, our performance will improve. The girls who earlier suffered due to the lack of teaching staff will now get better access to education,” she said.

Ms Shafee said the government had been giving top priority to the education, especially that of women, and the district education department demanding the filling of vacancies in schools was part of the efforts in this respect.

She said the appointment of 30 Class-IV employees had been made to ensure the security of schools, which earlier lacked such staff.

FUNDS RECEIVED: The tehsil councillors of Oghi have received equal development funds in its first annual development programme since the local government system was introduced in the province last year.

“We did our level best to divide development funds equally among tehsil councillors and our efforts succeeded as the first ADP is approved by the thumbing of majority,” nazim Raja Bashir told the council in a session here on Thursday.

The session was attended by treasury and opposition councillors to approve the ADP for the current fiscal year.

Hafiz Mohammad Younus, Jamal Alvi, Abdul Razzaq, Nawabzada Fareed, Habibur Rehman and other councillors took part in the debate.

Mr. Bashir said he was glad as the ADP, which his team had prepared after receiving schemes from 11 union councils and wards of the tehsil, stood approved. He said work on development schemes would begin soon.

The nazim said Oghi was the highly underdeveloped tehsil and that it was a good sign that councillors didn’t create hurdles for the tehsil government in the unanimous approval of the ADP.

PTI councilor Nawabzada Fareed said he was delighted to see the ADP get unanimous approval in the house.

He said PTI councillors would never allow the government to impose unjustified taxes on the people of the backward tehsil.

JI councillor Hafiz Younas said on the completion of development schemes, the people could reap the benefits of the newly-introduced LG system.
