Nawaz expresses concern after Hurriyat leader Geelani hospitalised

SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif prayed for the speedy recovery of Kashmir's All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who was hospitalised after suffering a minor heart attack in New Delhi on Thursday morning.

In his message the premier said, “Syed Geelani's indefatigable leadership is a beacon of freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We pray for his quick recovery and good health."

APHC Chairman Syed Ali Geelani was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi after he complained of chest pain, which was later diagnosed as a minor heart attack.

Geelani, who was in New Delhi, was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Indian capital's Max Hospital, said a statement issued by APHC in Srinagar.

APHC appealed to the people to pray for the speedy recovery of Syed Ali Geelani.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Hurriyet AJK chapter including Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Raja Shaheen, Raja Khadim Hussian, Abdul Majeed Malik, Nisar Ahmad Mirza, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Abdul Hameed Lone, Tufail Altaf Butt and others also prayed for early recovery of the Hurriyet chairman.
