Private schools open today

LAHORE: Private schools in Punjab will open on Thursday (today) after observing two protest holidays against the ‘controversial’ Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion and Regulation Amendment) Bill 2015.

As the Punjab government has not yet given any assurance about withdrawal of the bill or bringing amendments to it, the All-Pakistan Private Schools Federation said it might resume the protest in coming weeks if the government did not accept its demands.

“We are opening schools because of examinations. We may resume our protest in coming weeks if the government does not withdraw or bring amendments to the new law on our recommendations,” APSF president Kashif Mirza told a press conference here on Wednesday.
