QUETTA: Relatives of scientist Imran Khan visited the CM House on Monday on the invitation of Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.

Quetta-born Imran Khan is one of the two Pakistanis who were part of a team of scientists which recently detected gravitational waves predicted by Albert Einstein a century ago. The other Pakistani scientist is Dr Nergis Mavalvala.

Talking to Imran’s father Ajab Gul, mother Kafil Wara, brother Irfan Khan and other relatives, the chief minister said the young scientist had earned good name for Pakistan, especially Balochistan.

He said there was no dearth of talented people in the province, but they needed encouragement.

He said his government would encourage talented youth of the province to excel in the field of science and technology.

In recognition of his service, the chief minister announced a grant of Rs1 million for Imran.

Former speaker of Balochistan Assembly Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali, provincial Minister for Planning and Development Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, spokesman for the Balochistan government Anwarul Haque Kakar, MPA Izhar Khan Khosa and senior officials were present on the occasion.

Jan Mohammad Jamali and Hamid Achakzai praised Imran for his achievements.
