Lahore Eat kicks off at Jilani Park

LAHORE: Karachi’s much-talked about Eat festival has made its way to Lahore and the sprawling Jilani Park is playing host to the three-day food fiesta.

Lahore Eat kicked off here on Friday at 4pm and managed to lure a decent crowd on the first day of the families-only festival. Entry ticket is priced at Rs200 per person, which a few families Dawn spoke to found steep and added this discouraged them from attending the festival.

From nihari to karahi, sushi to tacos, churros to ice cream, and a lot more, there is something for everyone under one roof – open sky in this case. Every item on offer at all the stalls has been priced up to Rs300.

“I am very excited to be here. I want more and more people to come up and try my ice cream. Although I don’t really see a lot of people here; I expected much more than this,” said Shermeen Khan, who runs Lahorelicious ice cream.

Also seen were stalls by Waris Nihari, Pearl Continental, Sarrak Pe Karrak, The Shack, Awesomossa, Roshni Organic Bakery, The Lahore Social and Shut Up and Eat among over 40 eateries there.

While there is ample seating at the venue, some stalls have arranged their own tables and chairs for customers. A play area for children has also been arranged with jumping castles as well as a stage for musical performances – even encouraging visitors to sing.

Organised by CKO Events, who also hosted the Karachi edition of the event, and Latitude PR, the festival will run till Sunday from 12pm to 11pm.
