Technical training aimed at empowering women economically: minister

BAHAWALPUR: Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Baleeghur Rehman distributed certificates on Monday among 500 girls on completion of their technical training.

The training was organised under the Punjab government’s skill and development department in collaboration with a non-government organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister observed that free technical training in different trades was aimed at providing women opportunities to earn livelihood for families. He said the government was implementing a number of development programmes to achieve this object and the desired result for making women self-sufficient in economic and financial matters.

GAMBLING: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ehsan Sadiq has ordered station house officers (SHOs) of the three districts of Bahawalpur police range to eliminate all gambling and prostitution dens in their respective areas within 15 days and deposit clearance certificates with their district police officers.

At an open kutchery in Khanpur on Monday, the RPO warned the SHOs that if they failed to deposit the certificates within the stipulated period they will have to face stern action. And if after the deposit of these certificates there were complains that these dens were still operating, the SHO could be sacked.

The RPO also warned corrupt officials saying they would be taken to task and honest police officials rewarded. He added if there was complains against any police official for not registering a first information report, he could be removed from service.
