WE had not fully recovered from the shock of demise of a stalwart of Urdu litrature that another bright star faded away, who stood for all that was once considered ‘tahzeeb’.

Here I just want to add one more illustrious name, Sughra Kazmi, which was inadvertently missed by Asif Noorani in his touching obituary.

Her name was a household name in our family when we lived in Mohammad Ali Society for two decades.

FATIMA Surayya Bajia paid the debt of literature before paying the debt of nature. Spotless white hair-lady, with white starched sari, assumed the responsibility of fending the family after migration to Pakistan. No other proof can speak volumes about her mighty contribution than the fact that she authored almost 300 plus plays and serials, including Shama and Afshan. May her shadow never be less; rest in peace.
