Steps to boost intra-Kashmir trade suggested

MUZAFFARABAD: Traders from both sides of the Line of Control at a meeting on Wednesday recommended steps to India and Pakistan to strengthen trade “in the interest of the Kashmiri people”.

The meeting was held at Kaman Bridge, marking the divide at the Chakothi-Uri crossing point, for about two hours.

Initially, officials from both sides joined the traders but later they allowed them to exchange views independently, sources said.

Eight traders from Azad Jammu and Kashmir led by Mahmood Ahmed Dar and 10 from India-held Kashmir led by Tariq Khan took part in the meeting.

They called upon the two countries to open all other natural routes along the LoC for intra-Kashmir travel and trade.
