LAKKI MARWAT: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl MPA Noor Saleem Marwat has urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to strengthen police force and set up new police stations in Lakki Marwat district to overcome growing crime incidents and provide protection to the people.

In a letter addressed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, he stated that police stations in the district did not have enough staff according to the size of population in their respective jurisdictions. He said that existing strength of the police force could not cope with the law and order situation effectively.

“Each police station has to cover an area of 40km radius while most of them are understaffed and not well-equipped,” he maintained. He said that such a situation could result in crime surge.

Mr Marwat requested the chief secretary to take appropriate steps for setting up new police stations and posting more staff to the police stations in the district.

OATH-TAKING: District nazim Ishfaq Ahmad has asked the office-bearers of employees’ organisations to play an effective role in extending relief to residents of the district.

He was speaking as a chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony of Anjuman-i-Patwarian and Qanoongoyan in the tehsil building here on Tuesday. Assistant commissioner Sher Alam and All Government Employees Coordination Council’s district president Saeed Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

“The district government is not against the formation of employees’ bodies rather it wants the government employees to serve the people in a better way,” said the district nazim.

Mr Ahmad said that the employees were the backbone of government machinery and they should try their best to serve the people. The nazim said that the government employees should focus on their duties and improve the service delivery system.
