Board set up for promotion of women entrepreneurship

PESHAWAR: The Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries (WCCI), in collaboration with the provincial government, has set up a board for promotion of women entrepreneurship in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“We have jointly set up a board with secretary industries as its head to promote businesses of womenfolk and resolve the problems they are facing in continuation of entrepreneurship,” said MNA Sajida Zulfiqar, founder president of WCCI and vice-president of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI).

Addressing a press conference here at the WCCI office, she said that the board members would be secretaries of different government departments and the leading businesswomen of KP would chalk out policies for promotion of businesses by the women in the province.

The women chamber will continue its efforts for promotion of women entrepreneurship in the province by providing facilities to businesswomen to flourish and grow, the MNA said.

The prominent businesswomen, including Nasira Lughmani and Shamama Arbab, were also present on the occasion.

Sajida Zulfiqar said that WCCI had planned programmes for promotion of women entrepreneurship and in this regard a convention of businesswomen would be held in Peshawar on Feb 16 and 17 where the participants would be briefed about promotion of business, business trends and methods of displaying products in the markets.

She said that the WCCI would also organise an exhibition in Peshawar where businesswomen from across KP would be provided an opportunity to display their products free of cost.

“We will provide stalls to the businesswomen in the exhibition and anyone can avail of the facility,” she said, adding that women from Fata would also be provided opportunity to take benefit of such events.

The MNA claimed that an international exhibition would also be arranged in Islamabad where 50 per cent stalls would be provided free of cost to the businesswomen from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
