UoG hygiene campaign concludes

GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat’s five-day health and hygiene awareness campaign concluded at Kot Bela village’s Basic Health Unit (BHU) on Friday.

The campaign was part of the Higher Education Commission’s community outreach drive “Social Integration Outreach Programme” and was organised by UoG’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) and the YDA, with active participation of students of the Nawaz Sharif Medical College (NSMC).

ORIC Director Dr Mudassar Iqbal said it’s always better to be healthy than rich. The campaign, he said, strengthened the ongoing initiative of community outreach programme launched by the UoG.

Dr Zafar Iqbal Gill, the NSMC principal, said “health is not valued till sickness comes, and to avoid sickness we must follow basic hygiene rules.” He thanked the participants and stakeholders for making it an effective event.

YDA President Dr Rohail Ahmad said millions of lives could be saved by highlighting the importance of hand washing. The NSMC students presented a skit on the issue of cleanliness.
