Five security personnel killed in Quetta IED blast

QUETTA: At least five security personnel were killed and two others wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Quetta's Margut area on Monday.

A security officer who declined to be named told DawnNews that unidentified militants targeted a vehicle of security personnel through a remote-controlled bomb in Margut.

He said five security personnel were killed on the spot whereas two sustained injured. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The blast damaged the vehicle carrying security personnel.

Soon after the explosion, Frontier Corps personnel reached the site as an investigation into the incident went underway. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has remained under the grip of violence for over a decade which has claimed thousands of lives.
