Terror can’t weaken govt’s resolve to maintain peace: CM

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said that no compromise will be made on law and order situation in the province.

“We are in a state of war, no negligence will be tolerated in this connection,” he added.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting which reviewed the security situation in Quetta and other areas following a suicide attack in Satellite Town on Wednesday morning.

The chief minister directed the law enforcement agencies to take strict action against terrorists, their facilitators and those who provided them shelter to commit such heinous acts against innocent people.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah, Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, IG Police Ahsan Mehboob, Commissioner Quetta Kambar Dashti and officials of Frontier Corps. IG Police briefed the chief minister about the suicide blast at polio centre at Satellite Town area and security measures taken after the incident.

Nawab Zehri denounced the suicide attack and expressed his determination that such acts of terrorism could not deter the government’s resolve to maintain peace. “It is our responsibility to protect the life and property of every citizen. The sacrifices of police and other law enforcement agencies rendered for the sake of peace in the province would always be remembered,” he said, adding that their sacrifices would not go waste.

The chief minister directed the law enforcement agencies to expedite their efforts to get rid of terrorism and adopt a coordinated strategy in exchanging information to frustrate nefarious designs of anti-social elements.

“All available resources should be utilised for the security of life and property of the citizens,” he directed, adding that law enforcement agencies should play their effective role to ensure security of people without having difference of ‘A’ or ‘B’ areas.
