GUJRAT: Students of the University of Gujrat (UoG) are vying for a slot at the newly set up Business Incubation Centre (BIC) through the Business Competition Plan -- a contest to select students with best ideas to be inducted as pioneer batch of incubation centre.

The BIC project is funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and part of its drive to set up similar facilities to promote entrepreneurial culture in the public universities.

Students from different faculties tried their luck in the realm of business at various interactive sessions held at varsity’s Hafiz Hayat Campus.

“The success of any new product is determined by three basic factors of desirability, viability and feasibility,” Muhammad Haider Mairaj, Consultant BIC-UoG, said as he spoke to students of various disciplines at the UoG Marghzar Campus and students from medical science faculty at Hafiz Hayat Campus in two orientation sessions.

He said the product must be worth its value and the customer or end user should always hold the prime importance in any business.

The Business Competition Plan aims to help students how to equip and model their business ideas. Participants can submit their entries online by Jan 10. Only final-year students or fresh graduates are eligible to apply for the competition.

After initial screening of business plans, top 32 teams will qualify for the final round. The participants will attend accelerator camp to mature their business plan. Final round will take place on Jan 29. Top 15 will be offered a place in the incubation centre. They will also enjoy a one-year business mentorship opportunity from business tycoons in the country.

RESULTS: The UoG announced the results of annual examination of MA/MSc (part I and II) for Commerce, Economics, English, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Urdu and Fine Arts.

According to the controller of examinations, the results of regular candidates have been dispatched to respective colleges, and those of private candidates to their addresses.

“If a candidate finds any discrepancy in the result intimation card or does not receive the result card, he/she can submit an application within 20 days from the date of declaration of result. Rechecking applications will be received within 20 days of declaration of results.”
