NAB starts inquiry into BZU professor’s case

MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau’s regional office has issued notices to a Bahauddin Zakariya University professor facing allegations of irregularities in hiring, possessing a fake PhD degree, making illegal assets and his illegal appointment as professor.

Dr Ishaq Fani is the director of distance education and Institute of Social Sciences.

The NAB has also asked the BZU administration to submit required record.

The bureau has already recorded the statements of complainants Advocate Muhammad Fahim Akhtar, a resident of Ameerabad, and Sohail Chaudhry, a local journalist.

BZU registrar Dr Farooq said the university administration had received a notice to furnish the record.

He said the deputy registrar would appear before the inquiry officer to inform him that the BZU required some time to collect the record from various departments and offices.
