LAHORE: After 19 months or so, Pakistan Railways has decided to operate the Islamabad Express between Lahore City and Rawalpindi.

“From Jan 10, the 107-Up Islamabad Express will be leaving the Lahore City instead of the Cantonment station. Similarly, the 108-Down will be leaving Rawalpindi for Lahore City instead of Lahore Cantonment station,” says an announcement of the Pakistan Railways on Tuesday.

The railways administration had decided in May 2014 to operate the 107-Up/108-Down Islamabad Express between Lahore Cantonment and Rawalpindi stations in order to facilitate commuters of living in adjoining areas. However, lack of facilities prevented passengers from boarding or disembarking at the Cantonment station.

Meanwhile, Rawal Express will start running between Lahore and Rawalpindi according to the new timing from Jan 11.

The 105-Up Rawal Express will be leaving Lahore at 1am to reach Rawalpindi at 5am. Similarly, the 106-Down Rawal Express will be leaving Rawalpindi at 1am to reach Lahore city at 5am, 2014, says an announcement of Railways on Tuesday.
