199 policemen recruited on fake orders sacked

SUKKUR: The Sindh government has fired 199 policemen after a judicial inquiry proved Jacobabad SSP Farooq Ahmed Jamali had recruited them two years ago after receiving heavy bribes but he himself, the main culprit, escaped any action.

Since most of the policemen who were sold jobs did not have Jacobabad domiciles, it aroused suspicions of higher authorities and they launched a judicial inquiry which proved the recruitments was fake.

Sources in Jacobabad police said that a sheet clerk by the name of Manzoor Malik who was known as an ‘agent’ of SSP Jamali had sold the jobs to the highest bidders for at least Rs500,000 each.

The sources said that those who belonged to Kashmore were given jobs through Mr Malik and those hailing from Dadu district were recruited through the SSP.

The sources said that a total of 416 policemen were recruited in Jacobabad police whose medical fitness certificates were issued by the Peoples Primary Health Initiative dispensary at police headquarters.

DIG Larkana range Sain Rakhio Mirani, meanwhile, suspended services of sheet clerk Manzoor Malik and his aides Anees Shaikh and Imran whom the report found guilty of selling jobs.

Surprisingly, despite fake appointment, the policemen underwent training in Karachi and had been performing duties for the past 13 months in Jacobabad district but without receiving salaries.

But regretfully, the sources said, no action had been taken against SSP Jamali who was the main culprit in the fake recruitments scam.

Present Jacobabad SSP Sajid Khokhar issued a letter terminating the services of 95 policemen posted in Jacobabad after receiving directives from the additional inspector general of police and the DIG of Larkana police.

Most of the terminated policemen belonged to Dadu, Kashmore, Shikarpur and Balochistan areas. The policemen who possessed Jacobabad domicile were not removed from service.

The sources said that the service of a total of 199 policemen were terminated in Larkana division, of them 95 were posted in Jacobabad and 104 in Shikarpur, who included constables, computer operators, TC etc.

The sources said the police staff had received training and served in the department for 22 months without receiving salaries.

The sacked policemen have demanded the Sindh government order the Sindh IG to take back the order for removal from service and appealed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to intervene to resolve the issue.
