Govt & priorities

THE PML-N government’s claim of economic development using GDP growth and the usual indicators as favourable may not be wrong but wrong are its priorities and direction.

Spending billions of rupees on motorways, underpasses and overhead bridges, Orange line and metros in all cities and other mega projects do not constitute progress.

The government’s borrowings have gone abnormally high, loadshedding and unemployment remain the same, export figures are dismal and owing to mismanagement, our farmers are suffering.

No one is concerned about losses running into the billions in Steel Mills and PIA and other institutions. We also wonder why we do not have a foreign minister. As a nation, we are simple and have minimum demands. Can the government recast its policies?
