Fatal accident: DSP’s son walks free
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday confirmed pre-arrest bail granted to juvenile son of a police officer involved in the killing of a youngster in a hit-and-run accident after the father of the victim forgave the accused.
As Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad resumed hearing, complainant-father Rana Shahid appeared along with his counsel.
The complainant said, “I have forgiven the accused.” He further said he did not want to oppose the bail petition of the accused.
The counsel for accused argued that Talha had no link with the road accident as he was not driving the car that hit the victim. The petitioner was even not present at the scene, he said.
After hearing both sides, the judge confirmed the bail of the accused against furnishing of surety bond of Rs100,000.
According to the prosecution, Talha, son of DSP Naveed Irshad, was recklessly driving his car in the Sattukatla police area when he knocked down media official Rana Bilal who died after some time.
