PTEA slams cut in gas supply quota

LAHORE: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association has criticised the cut in gas supply quota for textile industries in winter, and said that may cripple the whole industrial chain.

The association urged the government to ensure at least 25 per cent gas supply to textile export sector in winter under the quota regime.

In a joint statement, PTEA chairman Asghar Ali and vice chairman Arif Mahmood Qureshi said that gas supply to the textile sector never dropped from 20pc in the past. Reduction in gas supply would cut down drastically manufacturing of export goods and exporters would not be able to fulfil their commitments to foreign buyers.

Asghar Ali was of the view that of the $13 billion plus textile exports, Punjab has $6bn share which is on the decline.
