Four booked for murdering student

BAHAWALPUR: The Civil Lines police on Wednesday registered a murder case against four suspects for killing a student in an industrial area near the railway station here.

According to police sources, on the complaint of deceased Sohail Asghar’s uncle Muhammad Nusrat Iqbal, a case under Section 302/34 of the PPC was registered against four suspects, including nominated Hamza Chaudhry and Saifi Shah.

Police have so far been unable to arrest the culprits, but claim to have conducted raids to arrest them.

Asghar, who was murdered on Tuesday night, was laid to rest after police handed over his body to his parents following a postmortem examination.

CHEQUES: MPA Fauzia Ayub Qureshi on behalf of the chief minister presented cheques worth Rs20,000 each to four deserving disabled persons, including two women.

PROJECTS: The students of University College of Engineering of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) organised an exhibition of their science projects at Baghdad campus.

Around 83 projects by 250 students were exhibited, including those created on solar energy, wireless alarm, security system, mines clearance machines and anti-terrorism squad.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Mushtaq inaugurated the exhibition and appreciated the projects.
