Imran’s message conveyed to Dr Mirza

BADIN: Sindh chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Nadir Akmal Leghari and MNA Dr Arif Alvi called on estranged Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Dr Zulfikar Mirza at his Mourjhar farmhouse here on Tuesday night and conveyed their party chief Imran Khan’s message to him.

Sources close to both sides said that the political situation in Sindh, particularly Badin district, after the second round of the local government elections was discussed at the meeting.

“Mr Leghari also invited Dr Mirza to join hands with the PTI chief in the ongoing fight against corruption and corrupt elements within the government,” a source privy to Dr Mirza said.

The meeting is seen here as the follow-up of a reported telephone call made by Dr Mirza to Mr Khan soon after the candidates backed by the former home minister won most local government seats in Badin.

Earlier, Dr Mirza held a meeting of his close aides and successful candidates to discuss a future strategy in the backdrop of the PPP high command’s meeting with Sindh cabinet members, including the chief minister in Dubai. It was noted that MNA Sardar Kamal Khan Chang and Syed Ali Bukhsh aka Pappu Shah from Badin were especially invited to the meeting.
