IDPs protest denial of relief package

PESHAWAR: Scores of IDPs from North Waziristan Agency on Monday protested against the government for what they called its failure to give them relief package.

The protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and shouted slogans against the FDMA for not providing them with sufficient ration and non-food items.

Talking to media persons, an elder, Malik Jan Faraz, said the tribal people had rendered matchless sacrifices for the country, but the federal government was not treating them like its citizens.

Many displaced families, he said had crossed into Afghanistan and came back only on the government request, but they were not given attention.

The displaced people, Malik Jan Faraz said belonged to Razmak, Dosli, Garyum, Spinwam and Sheva areas, who were leading a miserable life in cramped camps and different localities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He urged the government to take immediate steps for rehabilitation of the IDPs and enable them to get basic families like education, healthcare, clean drinking water and sufficient ration on their doorsteps. “If our demands are not met, we will hold a rally outside the Governor House in Peshawar,” Malik Faraz warned.
