My thanks to fellow Pakistanis

I WAS on the KPT flyover when my car was hit from behind with such force that my head hit the steering wheel and I was bleeding profusely from my forehead.

A gentleman on a motorcycle took my mobile and contacted my brother. At the same instant, an ambulance passing by stopped and its driver helped me into the ambulance. He gave me my handbag with all my belongings and my car keys and left my car on the side of the road. He took me to the nearest hospital located at Qayyumabad. Being a physician myself, I felt helpless and apprehensive.

I was given excellent emergency care. My vitals were checked by the efficient staff and the doctors provided excellent care.

As my wound was big, an eye specialist was called. He sutured my lacerated wound under local anaesthesia after showing me the fine suture that he would be using on my face.

More than a fortnight has passed since the mishap and there is a cosmetically acceptable scar on my face. I am thankful to God, the ambulance driver and the gentleman on the motorcycle, and not least the hospital staff. I do not know their names but my heart prays for them. I feel proud there are such people and doctors in Pakistan. I pray and know that most Pakistanis would rush to help in exactly the same way as these good Samaritans.
