Model colleges’ staff not paid for months

ISLAMABAD: For months now, 718 staff members at model colleges have not been paid their salaries.

According to some staff members, employees, who were paid daily including lecturers, junior teachers and other non-teaching staff, from some of the 20 model colleges operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have been waiting for their salaries for months now.

Ehsan Bangash from Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-8, said non-teaching staff had not been paid for six months while teaching staff had not received their salaries since August this year.

He said employees, who were paid daily, have taken up the matter with the FDE and the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD). However, no results have been seen yet. Some daily wage staff said they have been working at their colleges for many years; however, the FDE was yet to come up with a permanent mechanism to pay them on time.

Representatives of the staff said they had demanded that their pay be given to them without further delay and that their services be regularised.

A non-teaching employee said: “The director of model colleges has forwarded our file, but it is lying pending with CADD.”

Secretary CADD Khalid Hanif told Dawn he did not know if the staff were being paid and said he will look into the matter.
