Pakistan Army soldiers best in physical fitness: Gen Raheel Sharif

ATTOCK: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday said Pakistan Army is the most battle-hardened army in the world and its achievements against terrorism are acknowledged globally.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Third Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency Championship held near Attock, the COAS said Pakistan Army's overwhelming achievements in the war against terrorism speak volumes of its professional competence.

"It is great to note that Pakistan Army soldiers are way above the international standards laid down to judge physical efficiency," said the COAS.

The army chief appreciated Pakistani soldiers for setting new records in local and international events and said all soldiers need rigorous training and high fitness levels in order to keep improving their combat efficiency.

"Our teams participated in national and international events with extraordinary vigor and demonstrated the highest level of motivation, agility and physical fitness," said Raheel Sharif.

Recently in October this year, a team of Pakistan Army won the gold medal in the premier patrolling event of the British Army - Exercise Cambrian Patrol - beating around 140 teams from armies across the globe.

The army chief said focused physical training is the heart and soul of combat readiness and contributes positively towards success on the battlefield.

After the speech, Gen Raheel Sharif awarded trophies to the winner and runner up teams and medals to individual performers.

Sepoy Ali Raza was declared the overall best player of the championship, whereas Sepoy Muhammad Waqas and Sepoy Sabir Hussain secured second and third positions, respectively.
