LAHORE: After the second round of the four-day All Pakistan Under-19 Debating Championship, 16 teams from various schools were shortlisted on Friday.

The tournament has been hosted by Salamat Girls -- a subsidiary of Salamat School System under the aegis of Debating Society of Pakistan.

“During the first two preliminary sessions of this national debate event, we have shortlisted nearly 16 from 28 contesting teams,” Event Coordinator Ayesha Shahzad told Dawn.

She said eight of the 16 shortlisted teams would be selected for quarter finals.

“From those eight, four teams will be shortlisted for semi-finals. Both quarter and semi-finals will be held on Sunday (today),” she added.

She said the final between two teams would be held on Monday (tomorrow) and the winning and runner-up teams given prizes at a ceremony scheduled for the same day.
