Can you benefit from completing a MOOC?

People who take massive online open courses (MOOC) specifically to gain tangible career benefits — getting a raise, finding a new job or starting a new business — aren’t just advantaged populations from developed countries. Analysis of Coursera survey data reveals that while about 35pc of people at the top of the socioeconomic ladder in OECD and non-OECD countries report tangible benefits, 39pc and 32pc of people from such countries, respectively, at the bottom report similar benefits. And people with lower levels of education from developing countries are more likely to report tangible career benefits than others.
