22 ‘militants’ killed in N. Waziristan air strikes

PESHAWAR: At least 22 ‘terrorists’ were killed in air strikes on their positions in Shawal area of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday, Inter Services Public Relations said.

Military planes bombed targets in areas adjacent to the Afghan border, destroying six hideouts.

The ISPR claimed that 22 militants were killed in the assault.

However, the claim could not be verified from independent sources.

Security forces have been fighting against local and foreign militants in North Waziristan since July 2014. A large area of the agency, including Miramshah, its administrative headquarters, has been cleared of militants.

An official tally released on the first anniversary of the offensive said that 2,700 militants had been killed and many more wounded in combat.
