CDA official found hanged

ISLAMABAD: A Capital Development Authority (CDA) official was found hanged in a wooded area near Kashmir Chowk on Friday, police said.

The body was found hanging by a rope from a tree and was discovered by a passerby who informed the police. Police said officials untied the body and shifted it to a hospital for legal and identification process.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Jamil from Phulgran, police said, and was a range officer at the CDA.

Officials said he went to his office, which is located in Bhara Kahu, and later left his office to go home, but did not reach his destination.

He last spoke to his officer on his mobile phone around 10:30am, they added.

His motorcycle was found parked along the road adjacent to the wooded area where he was found. Police said his mobile phone, cash and a wireless set were missing.

Police said it was too early to rule the incident a murder or a suicide, and added that an autopsy report was awaited.
