Five terror suspects held

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have captured five terror suspects, including three members of Al-Qaeda, from Raiwind and Lahore.

A CTD spokesman said a police team raided a house in Raiwind area on intelligence reports and arrested Tariq Aziz, Abdul Ghaffar and Mehar Hamid Ali and recovered from their custody cash, weapons and printed and written material suggesting their links with Al-Qaeda.

He said the suspects were involved in collecting finances for Al-Qaeda besides facilitating terrorists to carry out their activities.

Police registered a case under 7-ATA Section 11-N, 11F (2)/ 11W (2) against them in CTD police station.

In another raid at a village near Thokar Niaz Beg area, two suspected terrorists identified as Khalid Mahmood and Amanullah were arrested and illegal weapons and two kilo explosive material was recovered from them.

The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
