Police foil terrorism bid in Lower Dir

TIMERGARA: The Khall police foiled a terror attempt and defused a remote-controlled bomb, planted at a local graveyard in Rabat on Eid day.

District Police Officer Qasim Ali Khan told local journalists that the eight-kilogram bomb was fitted in a pressure cooker. He said that bomb disposal squad timely defused the bomb and saved the area from destruction. The DPO said that police searched the graveyard after receiving intelligence reports about presence of the bomb in the area.

Meanwhile, three persons were killed while another was injured in different incidents in Lower Dir during the past 24 hours.

Police said that in the first incident a taxicab collided with a motorbike on Ali Sher Bridge in the limits of Samarbagh police station. Usman was killed and Hameedullah received injuries in the accident.

In the second incident, a passer-by was killed when an attacker opened firing on his rival in Tithar village in Samarbagh.

Sources said that Abid and Saeedur Rehman clashed over a petty issue. They said that Abid opened firing on Saeed but the bullet hit a passer-by identified as Bahadar. He was shifted to a hospital in Samarbagh where he died.

In another incident, Hasan Gul, was shot dead in Azizabad Chapraqa allegedly by his rivals. Samarbagh police registered the cases and started investigations.
